Fees & refunds
Fees fund the park. The park funds itself.
Percival Baxter established an endowment so the park would not depend on state taxpayers. Fees, shop sales, and donations keep that promise.
Day-use fees
Entering the park by vehicle.

Maine residents are exempt from the day-use fee but must still register at the gate. Non-residents can purchase a season pass in advance; proof of invoice is required at the gate.
Camping fees

Refund policy
Refunds, transfers, and cancellations
- Cancellation requests must be submitted at least 14 days before the camping date.
- A $17 service fee applies to all cancellations.
- No refunds within the 14-day window. Transfers only ($17 fee).
- Changes and transfers are made by phone or in person only.
- Transfers must occur within the same camping season as the original reservation.
- Maximum site stays: 7 nights per backcountry site or campground (14 nights total).
- Exceptions: Davis Pond (1 night only), Wassataquoik Lake Island (2 nights only).
- Groups of 13+ are assigned to group areas. Organized camp groups (5+) are limited to one July–August visit to Chimney Pond.
- No-show reservations are held only until 4:00 PM on the second day.
